How to sync an MT5 account to a forex journal

MT5 separates orders, positions, and deals. A read-only terminal sync gives your journal a dependable stream of that operational record while leaving every trading decision in your terminal and under your control.

A journal connection, not trade automation

The TFFP MT5 publisher is a read-only Expert Advisor. It securely sends account balance and equity, closed deal information, open positions, and relevant account activity to the TFFP account you select.

It cannot send orders, adjust a stop, close a position, or access your broker password. The private connection token authorizes this one data flow only. Treat it like a password and never publish or share it.

Setup Checklist

Connect MT5 with a clean workflow

1. Add the target account in TFFP. Create the corresponding live, demo, or prop account first. Use one journal account for one broker account so balances and review data stay meaningful.

2. Create an MT5 connection. Open Terminal Sync, select the account, choose MetaTrader 5, and save the one-time token somewhere private before leaving the screen.

3. Download the compiled EA. Download the .ex5 file from Terminal Sync and place it in the terminal's MQL5/Experts folder.

4. Add the secure endpoint. In MT5, open Tools → Options → Expert Advisors and add https://tradingforexforprofit.com to allowed WebRequest URLs.

5. Attach it to one chart. Add the EA to a single chart, enter the private token, enable syncing, and begin with a small history window.

6. Confirm success in the log. An HTTP=200 response in the Experts or Journal tab means the terminal reached TFFP. Review the matching account rather than assuming every history row was included.

7. Load older history in batches. For a large account history, extend the lookback gradually. This makes imports easier to verify and reduces the chance of a terminal timeout.

8. Re-migrate your MetaQuotes VPS. If you use the built-in VPS, synchronize or migrate after EA or permission changes. The VPS needs the current EA and allowed WebRequest configuration.

MT5 deals, positions, and journal review

MT5 can record one position through multiple deals. The publisher sends the operational data TFFP needs to match and review completed results, while current open positions remain context for account risk.

Balance activity such as deposits, withdrawals, credits, fees, and swaps remains separate from strategy P&L. That separation helps you distinguish a performance problem from a funding or broker-ledger change.

If the sync needs attention

HTTP -1 or WebRequest error: check that the exact HTTPS site address is allowed in MT5 Expert Advisor options.

HTTP 422: verify the connection token belongs to the selected TFFP account and recompile the current publisher before trying again.

Success but incomplete history: begin with recent deals, then work backward through the history in manageable windows and verify each batch in the journal.
