Michael Neely built TradingForexForProfit from years of hard lessons in the market

How it started
Michael Neely developed an interest in currencies and commodities in the late 1990s. Living in South Florida, he moved beyond curiosity and into the business itself by earning his Series 3 license in 2002.
From 2002 through 2004, he worked at three small brokerage houses. That period gave him a practical look at the futures and commodities world and deepened the interest that would later pull him back toward currency trading.
The early live trading years
After experimenting with a demo account, Michael opened his first live trading account in 2009 and blew it in two days. That kind of start ends the journey for many traders, but it did not end his.
He kept reading, studying, and trying again. He opened more live accounts and blew a few more along the way. Those failures were painful, but they also built the perspective behind the risk-first mindset that now shapes TradingForexForProfit.
A breakthrough in 2014
In 2014, Michael caught a strong USDJPY bull market and tripled his account in about nine months. That run did not make him think trading was easy. Instead, it showed what can happen when a trader aligns with a real market move and manages the opportunity correctly.
It was a reminder that markets do reward preparation, patience, and perspective, even after a rough beginning.
The return to focused forex study
Michael traded sporadically for a few years, then took a much deeper interest in forex again in 2020. Since then, he has continued studying the craft, learning more about currency trading, and helping other traders think more clearly about risk, structure, and performance.
That long learning curve is a big part of why the platform does not lean on hype. It is built around process, survivability, and honest review.
The prop firm chapter
In 2025, Michael signed up for his first prop firm trading challenge. He continues working toward becoming a funded trader, and that experience has added another layer to the platform: tighter risk control, clearer journaling, and a stronger respect for execution discipline.
That is why TradingForexForProfit is so aware of prop-firm workflows. The build is being shaped by someone who is still in the arena, still learning, and still refining the process.
NeelyFX and trader education
In July 2025, Michael founded the NeelyFX YouTube channel as another way to share trading ideas, market observations, and lessons from the journey.
The channel complements TradingForexForProfit by giving traders another place to follow the thinking behind risk, execution, and the realities of trying to improve over time.
Why this story matters
TradingForexForProfit was built by someone who knows what it feels like to blow accounts, rebuild confidence, and keep going anyway.
That gives the platform a different point of view. It is meant to help traders build a workflow that is more durable than emotion, impulse, or memory.
What Michael focuses on now
- Risk-first forex trading
- Trade journaling that goes beyond broker statements
- Prop firm discipline and account survivability
- Helping traders become more structured and more accountable

Bottom line
Michael Neely is still on the journey. That may be one of the most useful things about this site.
The platform is not being built from a distance. It is being built from experience, mistakes, persistence, and the ongoing pursuit of better trading decisions.
