Platforms And Prop Trading
How to journal DXtrade prop firm trades
DXtrade records the account activity. A journal helps you understand the trading decision behind it. Use both: verify the platform record, preserve the prop-account context, then review whether the trade followed a repeatable process.
Give every prop account its own record
A challenge, funded account, personal account, and demo account should never share one journal account. Each has its own balance, drawdown rules, trading restrictions, and performance history.
In TradingForexForProfit, create the prop account first and save its firm name, account type, starting balance, daily drawdown, and total drawdown details. These fields provide the context for position sizing and later performance review; they do not replace the firm's current written rules.
The Core Workflow
Plan, verify, then review
Before Entry
Plan
Record the pair, direction, entry, stop, target, position size, planned risk, setup quality, and reason for the trade.
While Live
Verify
Use the DXtrade positions view to verify the fill, direction, volume, stop, target, and live exposure match the plan.
After Close
Review
Use DXtrade trade history to verify the result, then add the lesson, notes, tags, and screenshot that platform history cannot explain.
What to capture before the DXtrade order fills
Planned trades are where the journal creates the most value. Add the entry price, stop loss, take profit, position size, risk percentage, strategy, session, expected holding time, confidence, and emotional state before the result can influence the story.
A screenshot of the setup is especially useful when the trade is reviewed later. It preserves the chart context that may no longer be visible after price has moved or an order has closed.
Do not treat a pending DXtrade order as an open position. The journal plan can exist before a fill, but the live trade should reflect confirmed market exposure.
Reconcile the platform record after close
After a trade closes, compare the journal with DXtrade trade history: symbol, side, volume, fill price, close price, close time, commission, and net closed P&L should tell the same story. If they do not, correct the journal from the platform record before measuring the result.
When a compatible DXtrade report or prepared CSV is available, import it through Trade Imports using DXTrade / Manual CSV. Preview the rows before saving so the target account, prices, and closed results are correct. Reporting availability varies by firm.
If the account has multiple partial closes or fills, review the net result rather than assuming one platform row must equal one journal trade. The purpose is an accurate decision record, not blindly matching row counts.
Keep prop-account activity out of the trade scorecard
Credits, fees, financing, deposits, withdrawals, and other balance adjustments can affect an account without being a trade idea. Keep them in Account Activity when appropriate, rather than treating them as a win or loss for a strategy.
This separation makes the journal more honest: trade performance can be analyzed as trade performance, while the account ledger explains why balance and equity changed.
Review prop performance through rules and process
A good prop-account review asks more than whether a trade made money. Did the trade stay inside the daily-loss and total-drawdown limits? Was the risk appropriate? Did the trade follow the setup and execution plan? Was there duplicate exposure across related pairs?
Add mistake tags only when they describe a repeatable behavior, such as moving a stop, entering before confirmation, or exceeding planned risk. Review those tags weekly alongside setup quality, planned-versus-realized R, and account risk.
