Platforms And Prop Trading
How to use DXtrade for forex prop firm trading
DXtrade can provide the order entry, open-position view, and trade history for a prop trading account. Your trading process still needs to sit above the platform: understand the account rules, define risk before entry, distinguish orders from positions, and turn the broker record into a journal you can review.
Start with the prop account, not the order ticket
Before placing a DXtrade order, know the account type, current balance or equity, daily-loss rule, maximum drawdown rule, trading-hour restrictions, and any event or holding restrictions set by the firm. Those rules are specific to the provider and can change, so the current written terms are the source of truth.
In TradingForexForProfit, create a separate account record for every challenge, funded account, personal account, or demo account. Keeping them separate prevents one account's balance, drawdown limits, and trade results from distorting another account's review.
Understand the three DXtrade views that matter most
Before Fill
Orders
Orders show instructions that have been placed or are waiting to be triggered. A pending order is not the same thing as an open trade with market exposure.
Live Exposure
Positions
Positions show the live exposure after an order has filled. Use this view to confirm symbol, direction, volume, stop loss, take profit, fill price, and unrealized P&L.
After Close
Trade History
Trade history helps verify completed executions, including date and time, symbol, direction, volume, prices, commissions, and closed or net closed P&L when supplied by the account.
Plan the DXtrade order before opening it
- 1. Define the setup. Choose the symbol, direction, entry condition, and the reason the trade belongs to your strategy.
- 2. Set the technical stop. The stop should represent invalidation of the trade idea, not simply a preferred monetary loss.
- 3. Check the symbol specification. Confirm the contract size, minimum volume, volume increment, tick value, spread, and any relevant margin requirements on the actual DXtrade account.
- 4. Calculate the volume. Start with the account-risk limit and stop distance, then calculate a size that fits the platform's verified contract value.
- 5. Confirm the order details. Before submitting, recheck direction, volume, stop loss, take profit, and whether the account is close to a drawdown threshold.
A platform record is not yet a complete journal
DXtrade history can tell you what filled and what the outcome was. It cannot reliably capture the original setup quality, planned risk, confidence, emotional state, screenshot, checklist response, or lesson you want to carry forward.
That missing context is the reason to record planned trades before entry when possible, then add the actual outcome after close. The broker history becomes evidence for the review instead of the entire review.
Bring DXtrade history into TradingForexForProfit
When your broker or prop firm provides a compatible report or CSV, use Trade Imports and select DXTrade / Manual CSV. Preview the rows first, confirm that the file belongs to the correct account, then check the symbol, side, volume, prices, closed P&L, and close time before saving.
DXtrade reporting and export availability can differ by provider. If an export is unavailable or does not fit the importer, prepare a clean manual CSV from the completed-trade data or record new trades through the planned-to-open-to-closed journal workflow. The platform does not currently use a direct DXtrade terminal sync.
Keep non-trade balance items such as deposits, withdrawals, credits, swaps, financing, and fees in account activity when appropriate. They may affect balance, but they are not automatically strategy P&L.
Review prop performance without hiding the rules
A prop account should be reviewed through both performance and rule compliance. A profitable trade can still be poor process if it exceeded risk, broke an event rule, or created too much total exposure. A controlled losing trade can still be good execution if it followed the plan.
Use the journal to compare plan versus actual, identify repeat mistake tags, and complete a weekly review. The goal is not to make every trade look good. It is to make the decision process visible enough to improve.
